Whether private or public sector, lift equipment needs to be correctly specified for the environment into which it will need to operate.
Housing
- In the private sector the equipment not only needs to meet the demanding aesthetic requirements of modern high-rise living but must also deliver reliability and length of service. It is essential to ensure commercially available products are supplied that allow for ease of maintenance with minimal down time.
- The public sector can be very different. The equipment is not always located within the existing building structure but can be added at a later date to meet more stringent access requirements. The equipment needs to be robust and tailored to the local authorities’ operational practices. Special release procedures and equipment may need to be designed and added in order to achieve this.
Office/Commercial
- Supply of the correct lift and escalator systems into an office or commercial environment is critical to the success of the building. Correctly designed systems will make the building a successful environment to do business in. Understanding the building occupancy and usage will allow traffic studies to specify the best possible solution to handle the expected usage.
Industrial
- Industrial applications can vary from a simple goods lift through to a full-blown explosion proof lift with additional protection against chemicals. Equipment can be rated for loading by forklifts or designed to carry special containers. Selecting the very best equipment and designs for this difficult environment will assist in providing a robust and reliable solution.
Transport
- Public transport systems tend to work in one of the toughest environments. They are often exposed to the elements and invariably have very heavy passenger usage (18 to 20 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days per year). It is not uncommon for these systems to have to meet stringent customer specifications and standards. We have considerable experience in the technical equipment compliance to these standards and codes, as part of the design and delivery process. We have particularly strong experience on the London Underground network.
Education
- Lift equipment supply into the education sector needs careful consideration. We identify the correct equipment to meet specification and the customers’ needs.
- Our project management skills ensure delivery of the systems into service to site programme.
- Very often time constraints are the deciding factor with immovable deadlines such as term dates. We have experience of working within the BFS (Building Schools for the Future programme)
- Management of maintenance services are also very challenging in this sector. Reliable operation needs to be achieved within restrictive hours of working using suitably CRB checked and registered engineers.
Heathcare
- Healthcare projects frequently involve NHS specifications and standards (HTM) that they need to comply to. A strong understanding of the building use is essential in designing the correct systems. Conventional calculation assumptions may need to be modified: if the lift systems are for patient use ride comfort may take precedence over volume performance.
